Fans in B’baria want to change number of Brazil’s World Cup wins
Football fans in Brahmanbaria have started a petition to change the number of Brazil's World Cup wins after Argentina made it to the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup on Wednesday. .
"People say Brazil has won the World Cup five times, but that is not in fact true," said Khelaboksh Shidha, one of the signatories of the petition that they say will be filed with the High Court soon.
"In fact, Brazil has won eight World Cups, and therefore are far ahead of any team."
Another man standing next to Shidha said, "You might be wondering how it could be eight. It's simple bhai. On three occasions Argentina went to the World Cup final and lost. Each time, just before those finals, can you imagine what Brazil fans were going through?
"So, do you think that when they lost in the final, it was any less than a win for Brazil fans?" he asked.
It was learnt that there is another petition in the works to change the number of trophies that Argentina has won to minus 1.
The lawyer filing the petition on behalf of a group that calls themselves "Argentina Bhua" told Satireday, "Well, they won two trophies and lost three finals. You do the math."
Meanwhile, on Facebook, netizens posted lengthy statuses about how lamentable it was that people could not enjoy the beautiful game and only focused on one-upping rival supporters.
One of them, a Germany supporter, commented below their post when an Argentina supporter made a snide remark about Germany's exit from the group stage: "Do you even know how many World Cups Getmany has won and how many Argentina won? We are twice the team you are!"
