Person manages to attend Pic Fest despite January wedding commitments
"I am very grateful for this award, and finally some recognition of what I have been going through. In the days leading up to the Pic Fest, I was sure I would not be able to attend. As you know, I have on average 4 weddings to attend every day this season."
A woman in Dhaka was honoured with the "Warrior Princess" award after she was spotted at Pic Fest on Friday evening.
The woman, named Sosh Al Ite, was given the award on the spot after she entered the festival wearing the most traditional yet modern jamdani and a total of 350 carat jewellery, at least.
The person attracted a crowd as soon as she entered, and the award givers showed up out of nowhere.
There was also an impromptu speech, complete with podium, microphone and loudspeakers.
"I am very grateful for this award, and finally some recognition of what I have been going through," Ite said to a growing gathering.
"In the days leading up to the Pic Fest, I was sure I would not be able to attend. As you know, I have on average 4 weddings to attend every day this season."
Some in the crowd were heard asking each other who she was.
"I recently got married myself, and the amount of thought I put in for the wedding, the amount of shopping home and abroad ... Like I said last time, it was like climbing Mount Everest."
"What last time?" someone in the crowd asked.
"I am sorry, this isn't a press conference, it's a briefing, there will be no questions."
"There is no press here," someone else said.
"Anyway, as I was saying, if that was climbing a mountain, this is like going to the moon. As my wedding was the greatest in Bangladeshi history, I consider it a social responsibility to go to as many weddings of other people as possible and offer my advice."
"So… you weren't invited to the weddings," asked a voice from the crowd.
The person's partner was with her, carrying a DSLR camera, to capture such impromptu moments.
"I am not like other husbands. I support my wife. In fact, she says she loves going to weddings with a hottie like me. You know why I am a hottie? Because I lift weights and I also respect women, both different but very important qualities," the man said, without being asked.
The couple then took some photos and left, along with the people who organised the award giving.
