Shohan defends wicketkeeping, says it’s ‘more difficult than gatekeeping’
Bangladesh national cricket team veteran Nazmul Hossain Shohan fought back against the backlash he was facing for his wicketkeeping abilities, saying that it is more difficult than activists' gatekeeping on social media.
"Everyone is a social justice warrior with a keyboard. First it was my wicket-keeping, now it is gatekeeping, everyone has something to say," said Shohan, adding, "I urge everyone to try wicketkeeping before gatekeeping. It is a real sport, more difficult, and requires high amounts of focus to get it right."
He also added that every aspiring wicketkeeper starts out by gatekeeping valuables in their area, as he did when he was young.
"It is good to see so many gatekeepers rising through the ranks in social media. The cricket board should take active steps to transform these veteran gatekeepers into valuable assets of national cricket."
In related news, it was learnt that the cricket board would increase ticket prices for Test matches to ensure gatekeeping.
This has set off a social media showdown among SJWs. One group said there are already no spectators at Test matches, that watching Tests is going out of fashion. "It's like reading a book when you can watch a movie," said one.
The other side said that if ticket prices were raised, it would be a good thing as it would increase the snob value of Test cricket. "Going to Tests would become a status symbol and keep the riffraff out."
