UHH distributes iftar and Eid gifts among haor people

The voluntary organisation Universal Help Hub (UHH) organised an iftar mahfil along with Eid gifts distribution programme for almost a thousand families at Fatehpur Union of Bishwamvapur Upazila in Sunamganj district on June 16, 2017.

Assistant General Secretary of UHH, Tanzimul Islam said, "This year we are trying to stand beside the helpless people of haor region. The first time, we were aware that the support we had brought for them was inadequate compared to the number of people. We later made a documentary named "Floating Dream" focusing on the miserable lives of these people. This made other individuals and organisations come forward in standing beside them."

The President of UHH, Md. Mujahidul Islam said, "We have two upcoming projects: Shonirvorotar Jonno Jakat, by which we will be trying to help people become self dependent, and 'Healthy Nation - 4' which is part of our regular programme. It will be held in Lalpur, Natore after Eid on July 7. I hope and expect cooperation from all to undertake and complete these projects of UHH successfully in the future."

DIU Air Rover Scout Group holds certificate distribution ceremony

Daffodil International University (DIU) Air Rover Scout Group organised Scouts' Own and 6th Oath Camp Certificate Distribution Ceremony followed by iftar mahfil on June 15, 2017 at DIU Auditorium. Prof. Dr. Yousuf Mahabubul Islam, VC of DIU and President, DIU Air Rover Scout Group presided over the programme. Scouter Zamil Ahmed, Deputy National Commissioner (Training), Bangladesh Scouts, was present as the chief guest. Atiquzzaman Ripon, Deputy National Commissioner, Wing Commander Sheikh Zakir Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner, Flight Lt. M. Shah Alam, Region Secretary and Shamsul Haque, Director of Bangladesh Scouts were present as the special guests. The function was also addressed by Md. Anowar Habib Kazal, Senior Assistant Director and Farhana Rahman Setu (PRS) of DIU Air Rover Scout Group. 

In his presidential address, Prof. Islam urged the Rovers to follow and abide by the rules of Scout Motto which will build themselves as complete human beings and inspire them to serve mankind. 

A large number of Rovers from different units and regions, scout personnel including trainers, leaders, DIU Air Rovers (current and former) participated in this programme.

Workshop on accreditation related issues at WUB

Department of Pharmacy, World University of Bangladesh (WUB) organised a workshop on "Self Assessment Draft Report" on June 17, 2017 at WUB main campus. VC of WUB, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury graced the event as chief guest. Prof. Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro-VC; Prof. A K M Ziaul Islam, Director, and Arif Sattar, Additional Director, IQAC-WUB were  present as special guests. Zubair Khalid Labu, Head, Department of Pharmacy, chaired the session. All faculty members participated in this programme.

BRACU launches mobile app for students

BRAC University (BRACU), on June 15, 2017, launched a mobile application for students based on the Android mobile operating system. 

BRACU VC Prof. Syed Saad Andaleeb Ph.D., with the click of a button, made "BRACU Mobile" available in Google Play Store from Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) Centre of BRACU.

Installing the app in their Android phones, students will be able to view their university-based profiles, which will include grades, class and exam schedules, announcements, advices, the academic calendar, upcoming events, latest news, importants contacts, photos and videos of important events and even the daily menu of the university cafeteria.

The app will include a QR code scanner, a "DSPACE" icon giving access to tonnes of institutional data from BRAC University Institutional Repository and a unique "Push Notification" feature giving free-of-cost updates, especially that regarding nano satellite "BRAC Onnesha" and its corresponding ground station.

A "User Feedback" form is also accessible for further developments and BRACU is in the process of developing an iOS version of the app.

Textile Engineering Department of SEU organises certificate handover ceremony

Textile Engineering Department of Southeast University (SEU) organised Corporate Membership Certificate handover ceremony by The Textile Institute, UK on June 15, 2017 at the Conference Room of Banani main Campus.

Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, VC of SEU chaired the programme while Roger Gilmartin, Vice President of The Textile Institute, UK was present as the chief guest. Prof. Syed Fakhrul Hassan, Dean, School of Science & Engineering, SEU delivered the welcome speech. Prof. Dr. M. Shamsher Ali, Professor Emeritus of SEU, Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Chairman, Textile Institute, Bangladesh section and other dignitaries took part in discussion on importance of corporate membership. At the end, a Corporate Membership Certificate was handed over by Roger Gilmartin on behalf of The Textile Institute to the VC of SEU.
