DYDF organises workshop on start-up and digital marketing

Dhrubotara Youth Development Foundation (DYDF), organised a workshop on July 6, namely "Workshop on Effective Start-up and Digital Marketing", in association with EMK Centre at Dhanmondi.

Former Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan, Chairman of DYDF, and the Country Representative of Spark Bangladesh, Nirjhor joined the workshop as guests while Executive Director of DYDF, national youth awardee Amiya Prapan Chakraborty chaired the event.

Most of the attendees of the workshop were young people who want to become entrepreneurs and develop their interpersonal skills; the workshop was a great help for them.

In the workshop, two start-ups - Dhaka Riders and Break Bite Events - shared their activities, challenges, and opportunities with youth delegates. 

DYDF is the national awardee youth organisation, working for seventeen years in Bangladesh for community development. DYDF with its activities across the country has vowed to achieve the seventeen sustainable development goals.


EWU holds Merit Scholarship Awarding Ceremony 2017

East West University (EWU) provided "Merit Scholarship Award 2017" to 231 students from spring and summer semester for excellent academic performance. The scholarship giving ceremony was held on the EWU campus at Aftabnagar on July 5, 2017. 

H. N. Ashequr Rahman MP, Member, BOT, EWU attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Prof. Dr. M. M. Shahidul Hassan, VC, EWU was the special guest. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, BOT, EWU, and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, presided over the programme. They also handed over the certificates to the award recipients. 

Treasurer, Deans of faculties, Chairpersons of different departments, teachers, staff, recipients and their parents were also present at the ceremony.


UIU holds inter-school/college essay competition 

Department of Economics at UIU organised its first inter-school/college essay competition at a national level. The topic of the competition was "Potential Economic Impacts of the Padma Bridge". The award giving ceremony was held on July 8, 2017 in the main campus of UIU. Prof. Mustafizur Rahman, distinguished fellow, CPD was present as the chief guest.

Students from classes IX-XII and O/A Level candidates were eligible for the competition. Students from 46 institutions participated in the competition. Top 10 participants were invited to present their essays.

Md. Kaf Shahrier of Faujdarhat Cadet College won the first prize of BDT 50,000 for the best essay. Fawziyah Fariha of Feni Girls' Cadet College received the second prize of BDT 30,000 and Sibbir Ryan Prottoy of Faujdarhat Cadet College received the third prize of BDT 20,000. It was announced that the next year's essay competition would be held in September/October 2018.

Registrar, Heads of different departments, teachers, guardians, students and the invited guests were present in the programme.


Dr. Atiur Rahman joins CUB as Professor Emeritus

Dr. Atiur Rahman, former Governor, Bangladesh Bank joined Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) on July 5, 2017 as Professor Emeritus and Virtual Dean, School of Business. It is to be mentioned that he is also an honorary adviser to the Board of Trustees, CUB.

Dr. Rahman was welcomed by Dr. Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, Founder and Chairman, BOT, CUB and Prof. William H. Derrenger, VC, CUB. Among others, S. M. Arifuzzaman, Associate Professor and Head, Business School and Md. Latiful Khabir, Assistant Professor, School of Business, CUB were also present.


DIU Chairman presents paper at IAUP

Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, BOT, DIU joined the 18th International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) Triennial Conference in Vienna, Austria during July 5–8, 2017. This conference was attended by 300+ participants from around the globe and focused on the theme "Innovation in Education". 

Khan's presentation titled "Industry-University Collaboration: A Way for Innovation and Employment" on the theme drew much attention. He spoke on Sustainable Development Goals, human development, higher education in Bangladesh, key strategies in university education in Bangladesh, delta planning, matching skills and labour market, DIU Industry Academia Lecture Series on Entrepreneurship Development, Innovation and Industry Academia Collaboration, DIU Publications on Entrepreneurship, DIU's Department of Entrepreneurship as a pioneer in Bangladesh, curriculum development, practical involvement of students, and Employability 360 degree during his presentation.

He handed over a DIU Souvenir to Kakha Shengelia, PhD., IAUP President-elect and President, Caucasus University, Tbilisi, Georgia, during the conference.

IAUP is the largest and oldest Association represented by University Presidents from 170 countries. It holds the highest (ECOSOC) consultation rights at the United Nations and formal consultation rights with UNESCO. The great outcome of the visit is to strengthen networking in and around the area.
