UAP initiates  "Entrepreneurship Lecture Series" with  Syed Manzur Elahi

Department of Business Administration (DBA), University of Asia Pacific (UAP) hosted the first session of "Entrepreneurship Lecture Series" on August 8, 2017.

Guest speaker Syed Manzur Elahi, Chairman of Syed Manzur Elahi Enterprise and Apex Group, conducted an insightful session on his journey to becoming one of the most leading entrepreneurs of Bangladesh. The distinguished speaker of the session disclosed how he took the initiative of leaving a lucrative job to start a tannery business, the struggles he faced and how he made a name for himself in the business world.

Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, VC, UAP was present as chief guest. Chairman, BOT, Qayum Reza Chowdhury, and Head of DBA, Shamsad Ahmed were present during the lecture.

Faculty members and students attended the session that concluded with vote of thanks by Sadia Tangem, convener of the series; Sisili Rahman; Samira Sahel; Barnali Nandi, and Tahmeem Siddiqi.

 

SEU and chakri.com organises seminar on "Communication in Job Interview"

Department of Career Services (DCS) of Southeast University (SEU) along with chakri.com organised a career-related seminar on "Communication in Job Interview" on August 8, 2017 in the Seminar Hall of the main building, SEU, Banani, Dhaka. 

Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, VC, SEU chaired the session while Deepti Sarkar, In-charge of DCS delivered the welcome speech.

Renowned writer, novelist and associate editor of The Daily Prothom Alo, Anisul Hoque, was present at the seminar as chief guest. M. Kamaluddin Chowdhury, Representative Member, BOT, SEU Trust was present as the guest of honour. Mohammed Masud Rayhan was the keynote speaker of seminar. He discussed on CV writing techniques and personal branding techniques on social media.

Among others, Maj. Gen. Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed, SPP, psc (Retd.), Registrar of SEU, Wing Commander Md. Ahmodur Rashid (Retd.), Chief Coordinator cum Secretary of BOT; Chairmen of different departments; faculty members; students and executives of chakri.com were present.

EU hosts reception programme for graduating students

Eastern University (EU) hosted a reception in recognition of its graduating students of summer 2017 semester on August 10, 2017 at EU premises in Dhanmondi. Graduates of these four faculties attended the programme. Engr. Kh. Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, BOT of EU was present as the chief guest. Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, VC of EU presided over the function while Mohammed Ali Azzam, Member, BOT was present as the special guest. The programme started with a welcoming speech by Muhammed Siddique Hossain, Treasurer of the university. Deans; Chairpersons; faculty members; officials and students graced the occasion with their presence. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Abul Basher Khan, Registrar of EU and a sumptuous lunch.

 

Quizards launches quiz contest on the life of Bangabandhu

Quizzing platform Quizards has launched an online-based quiz competition on the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 2017. The contest has been divided into five episodes, and will continue till August 25. 

Quizzing enthusiasts can join the campaign by visiting www.quizards.co until August 25. Each participant needs to join all the episodes of the contest. The top-scorers of the contest will be awarded with a gift hamper, including Bangbandhu's autobiography and graphic novel "Mujib".

 

ULAB holds lecture on history of universities

Center for Advanced Theory (CAT) at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organised its third event in "Visiting Professor Lecture Series" of Summer 2017. On this occasion, the renowned linguist Prof. Dr. Shishir Bhattacharja of the Institute of Modern Languages (IML), Dhaka University covered a lecture on the "History of Universities in Early Modern Europe: Bologna, Paris, and Oxford", on August 12, 2017. 

In his lecture, he covered a wide range of topics which include the history of academic education, religion and pedagogy, the origin of university and its evolution. Prof. Bhattacharja, a specialist in modern linguistics, was educated among other places, in Paris and Montreal. He is currently teaching French language and literature at IML. 

Prof. Salimullah Khan, Director of the host organisation inaugurated the seminar and VC of ULAB, Prof. Dr. Jahirul Haque delivered the vote of thanks to conclude the programme.
