BUBT distributes relief among flood victims
Different student organisations of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) jointly undertook a relief distribution programme among the flood affected people of remote villages in Kurigram's Ulipur upazila on August 26, 2017. Relief goods, including money, rice, oral saline, clothes, biscuits, and medicine were distributed among affected families.
Students and representatives from BUBT-Prothom Alo Bandhusava, Textile Club, English Club, Cultural Club, Photography Club, Business Club, Debating Club and IT club participated in the relief distribution programme led jointly by two faculty members of BUBT.
NSU welcomes Fall 2017 students
North South University (NSU) warmly welcomed the newly enrolled students in undergraduate and graduate orientation ceremony, for Fall 2017, on September 16 2017 at its Bashundhara campus.
Freshers enrolled in BBA, MBA, ETE, EEE, Economics, Environmental Science, Architecture, English, Computer Science and Engineering, Law, Pharmacy, Microbiology and Biochemistry took part in the event. In total, 24 meritorious students were awarded full and partial scholarships for their outstanding results in the admission test for Fall 2017, under the NSU scholarship scheme.
Md. Sohrab Hossain, Secretary, Ministry of Education was the chief guest at the programme. Mohammed Shajahan, Chairman, NSU Board of Trustees was present as a special guest. The programme was chaired by Prof. Atiqul Islam, Vice Chancellor, NSU.
Prof. G.U. Ahsan, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Designate) and Dean, School of Health and Life Sciences; Prof. Mohammad Mahbub Rahman, Dean, School of Business and Economics; Prof. M. Rokonuzzaman, Dean, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences; Prof. Abdur Rob Khan, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences; Shahjahan, Registrar, Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Khan, Proctor, NSU were present at the occasion.
The programme ended with a cultural session where students from the university clubs made performances.
DIU Chairman represents BCS in WCIT 2017 Taiwan
As a Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) representative, Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil International University (DIU) and Global Trade Committee of World IT Services Alliances (WITSA), joined WITSA Board of Directors meeting (World Congress of IT- WCIT 2017 Taiwan) held at Taipei International Convention Center in Taiwan with the theme "Living the Digital Dream" on September 10, 2017.
Khan took an active part in all discussion, provided updates on Global Trade Committee and led the discussion on "Status of WITSA B2B Portal". Later on, he handed over DIU souvenir to Yvonne Chiu, Chairman of WITSA.
Bangladesh is likely to host WCIT 2021. Founded in 1978, the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) is a leading consortium of ICT industry association members from over 80 countries/economies around the world. WITSA's members represent more than 90 percent of the world ICT market.
WUB organises Fall semester 2017 orientation programme
Fall semester students' orientation programme of the Faculty of Science & Engineering, Faculty of Business Studies and Faculty of Arts & Humanity, of World University of Bangladesh (WUB) was held on September 8, 2017 in the auditorium of the university.
VC of WUB, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury graced the occasion as chief guest while Prof. A K M Ziaul Islam, Controller of Examinations; Prof. Abdus Salam Molla, Registrar; Kazi Nazrul Islam, Proctor; and Prof. AFM Abdur Rauf, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering spoken on the occasion as special guests. Prof. Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro-VC of the university, chaired the session. Advisors, Heads of the Departments and senior academic staff were also present.
BRACU holds orientation for Fall 2017
On September 10, 2017, BRAC University (BRACU) organised its "Freshman Orientation - Fall 2017" at the Mohakhali campus.
BRACU VC Prof. Syed Saad Andaleeb PhD presented the inaugural speech, congratulating students for qualifying for admission for the Fall 2017 undergraduate session at BRACU, which ranks among the very best in Bangladesh.
Two video presentations were screened for the participating freshers, which gave them an overview of BRACU and its residential campus. Members of BRACU almuni also reflected on experiences they gathered in BRACU. Dr. Ansar Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor, presented the closing remarks.
As part of freshman orientation programme of Fall 2017 Semester, BRACU also organised a First Year Advising Team (FYAT) session and an orientation programme for the parents of the newly admitted students.
