PU hosts Business Alumni get-together 2018

Business Alumni Get-together 2018 was held at Presidency University (PU), Gulshan Campus at 5:30 pm on February 1. Rokia Afzal Rahman, Chairperson, Board of Trustees was present as the chief guest.

Other guests included Prof. Dr. Matiur Rahman, VC, PU; Maj. Gen. Kazi Ashfaq Ahmed (Retd), University Adviser, PU; Prof. Dr. Nurur Rahman, Dean, School of Business and also other faculty members, administrative staff, and a large number of business alumni.

The event was organised by the School of Business. At the end of the programme, PU students performed songs, dance, and other cultural activities.

IUB holds 2nd Philip C Jessup International Law Moot Court

The Department of Law at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), in collaboration with the Asian Society of International Law and International Law Students Association, organised the second Bangladesh national round of the Philip C Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2018 from February 8-10, 2018 at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka.

Twenty-five universities took part in this year's competition. The winner was Eastern University who defeated BRAC University. Both teams will take part in World Moot Court Championship to be held in Washington DC in April, 2018.

Prof. M Omar Rahman, VC, IUB, attended the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest and distributed prizes among the winners. Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, and Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury, judges, High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh; Amy Ray, Asst. United States Attorney and the Appellate Chief in the Western District of North Carolina were in the judging panel during the final competition and also remained present in the closing ceremony as special guests. Prof. Borhan Uddin Khan, Adviser, Department of Law, IUB and President of the Asian Society of International Law, Bangladesh chaired the session.

Prof. Milan Pagon, Pro-VC, IUB; Dr. Mahbub Alam, Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, IUB; and Prof. Nazmuzzaman Bhuian, Vice President, Bangladesh Chapter of the Asian Society of International Law were also present and spoke on the occasion.

DIU hosts two-day Pharma Career Expo 2018

Daffodil International University (DIU) hosted a two day long Pharma Career Expo in association with Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) that started on February 3, 2018.

Maj. Gen. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Director General, Drug Administration was present as the chief guest and Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU and Chairman, Daffodil Family presided over the closing ceremony. The concluding programme  also included Prof. Dr. Yousuf Mahabubul Islam, Vice Chancellor;  Professor Dr. S M Mahabubul Haque Majumder, Pro- Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ismail Mostafa, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences; and Md. Mustafezur Rahman, Head, Department of  Pharmacy, DIU.

The expo included seminars, workshops, career talk show, exhibitions and project displays. A total of 15 pharmaceutical companies took part in the event.
