Photography Festival at Government Science College
Government Science College held its first photography festival on January 20-21, 2018 at their campus. Photographers from various schools, colleges and universities from Bangladesh took part in this event. Prof. Bonomali Mohan Bhattacharjya, Principal of the college, inaugurated the event.
The segments included photography exhibition for the students of schools, colleges and universities, short film contest, photography workshop, short film workshop and other activities.
More than 3500 photos were submitted by photographers from all around Bangladesh and 15 photos were shortlisted and awarded. Nafees Amin was the judge for this segment. Fifty-eight short films were submitted and the judge Amitabh Reza Chowdhury awarded the top 3.
The guests included Khondoker Nasif Akhter, Nafees Amin, Hemonto Sadik, and Zahin Tanvir. The event partners were Quizard, Kishor Alo and Bangladesh Cube Association.
There was a concert at the end of the event with performances from The Inner Door, The 13th Note and The Machanix.
ACI names UAP as the "Outstanding University 2017"
American Concrete Institute (ACI) has named University of Asia Pacific (UAP), "ACI Outstanding University 2017".
This is the second time in a row that UAP received the "ACI Outstanding University" award. The ACI award for University Student Activities was initiated to recognise universities that have participated in ACI-related activities.
Channel i launches 5th season of YLP
A press conference was organised at Channel i office in Dhaka on February 17, 2018 to initiate the 5th season of the Young Leaders Program (YLP).
Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director, Impress Telefilm Ltd. (Channel i); Abdul Muktadir, Managing Director of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd.; and Taslim Ahmed, CEO of Unitrend Ltd, spoke at the press conference. Other guests included corporate figures from various industries.

EU celebrates EEE Day 2018
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Eastern University (EU) celebrated the EEE Day on February, 15 2018. The daylong program was inaugurated by Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Eastern University (EU). Prof. Dr. Md. Nurul Islam, VC was the chief guest of the program; Tafiz Uddin, Chief Engineer, Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd. was the Guest of Honour; Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, EU; and Prof. Dr. Md. Aynal Haque, Advisor, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and Professor, Department of EEE, BUET were the Special Guests. The programme was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mirza Golam Rabbani, Chairperson, Department of EEE, EU.
A seminar titled 'Prospects of Engineering Studies and Research Trends of Energy Systems in Australia' was held where Kazi Saiful Alam, Research Assistant, Energy Systems Research Group, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia was the resources person of the seminar.
Students from the EEE department, rallied around the streets of Dhaka in celebration. The day-long programme included seminar series, Career Exam Contest, Idea Contest, EEE Project Fair, Workshop on AutoCAD and SolidWorks, Sports and Games events, and a cultural programme.
BRACU celebrates International Mother Language Day
BRAC University Communication and Language Club (BUCLC) organised the event "Bhashar Kolorobe Omor Ekushe" on February 18, 2018 to celebrate the international Mother Language day at their Mohakhali campus auditorium.
The event featured singing, dancing, and poetry recitation in Bangla, English, French, Chinese, Japanese, Manipuri and Chakma languages.
Among those present were the chief guest Lady Syeda Sarwat Abed, founder and director of the BRAC Institute of Languages; Prof. Ansar Ahmed, Pro-VC of BRAC University; and other faculty members and staff.
