ACC organises National Carnival

Three-day long "1st ACC National Carnival" was hosted by Adamjee Cantonment College in its premises from February 22-24, 2018.

The inaugural ceremony took place February 22 where Minister of Education Nurul Islam Nahid, MP was present as chief guest. Among other guests, Chairman of the governing body, Brig. Gen. Md. Shamsur Rahman, ndc, psc; Principal of the college, Brig. Gen. Syed Ahmed Ali, PBGM, ndc; and principals of different colleges were present.

This event was jointly organised by 14 clubs of the college namely Science Club, Business Club, It Club, Cultural Club, Debating Club, Language Club, Nature Club, etc. The carnival witnessed the participation of almost 6000 young talents from different schools and colleges. The segments included project displays, Olympiads, workshops, debates, wall-magazine display, photography competition, cultural competitions, and other activities. A brochure and a photography magazine titled "SYMMETRY" was also published.

Chief Co-ordinator of Construction Supervision Consultant of Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project, Maj. Gen. Abu Syeed Md. Masud, bsp was present as chief guest in the prize giving ceremony. The event partner was Daily Prothom Alo, youth partner was SHOUT, and media partner was ATN Bangla. A cultural programme was held at the end of the closing ceremony.

DIU affiliates with Nanhua University of Taiwan

A top management delegation team from Nanhua University, Taiwan visited Daffodil International University (DIU) on February 22, 2018 with a view to sharing exclusive scholarship opportunities for the students of DIU and signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for academic partnership between the institutions.

The visiting team was led by Lin Tsong-Ming, President of Nanhua University, including Wu Wann-Yih, Vice President; Prof. Chen Bo-Ching; Prof. Hung Yao-Ming; and Prof.  Lai Nhsin-Chih of Nanhua University. The delegation conducted a seminar on scholarships in Taiwan.

Prof. Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, VC, DIU attended the programme and shared ongoing internationalization ideas of DIU among the guests and participants. After the seminar both university signed an MoU to share the academic opportunities between both universities like summer school, student exchange, faculty exchange, research activities, etc.

 

IUBAT hosts International Knowledge Globalisation Conference 2018

The 13th International Knowledge Globalisation Conference 2018 on the theme "Sustainable Development Goals - Success and Challenges" was held on February 23-25, 2018 at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) campus. The conference was organized by IUBAT; Knowledge Globalisation Institute; Suffolk University, Boston, USA; and Primeasia University.

Minister of Social Welfare, Rashed Khan Menon MP ornamented the inaugural programme as the chief guest. Dr. Jonathan Haughton, Professor of Economics at Suffolk University, USA, and Dr. John Richards, Professor, School of Public Policy, Simon Fraser University, Canada were the keynote speakers. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. KM Sultanul Aziz, Distinguished Professor, IUBAT and Chairman of the organising committee. The welcome speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, VC and Convener of Conference. Dr. Moududur Rahman, the President of Knowledge Globalisation Institute and the conference chair, provided his valuable speech in the ceremony while Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, VC of Primeasia University and co-convener of the conference, delivered the vote of thanks.

NSU arranges national workshop for its climate finance project

On February 20, 2018, the National Workshop of the North South University's (NSU) Research Grants project titled "Understanding the Difference between Climate Finance and Overseas Development Assistance: The Context of Bangladesh" was held at the Economic Relations Division (ERD) premises in Agargaon. The aim of the workshop was to present the research findings with the audience present and acquire feedback to finetune the final report.

M A Mannan, MP, State Minister, Ministry of Finance was the chief guest of the workshop and Kazi Shofiqul Azam, Secretary of ERD, Ministry of Finance, and Dr. Nurul Quadir, Additional Secretary (Climate Change) of the Ministry of Environment and Forests were present as special guests.

The programme was inaugurated with a welcome address by the Principal Investigator, Dr. Mizan R. Khan, Professor of NSU's Environmental Science and Management (ESM) department and a lead climate change negotiator of the country, followed by the project presentation by Co-Investigators Tahmid Huq Easher and Raisa Bashar, Lecturers of the same institution.

There was an open discussion and feedback session where the platform was open for the audience to share their opinions.

 

ULAB clinches runner-up title at INSIGNIA 2018

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) participated in Insignia 2018, an international management competition organised by St. Xavier's Commerce Society, St. Xavier College, Kolkata from February 18-20, 2018. A team of 12 students of ULAB competed in several segments including finance, marketing, management, etc. The ULAB team comprised of Mahadia M. Twinkle and Tonmoy Khan secured runner-up position in the 3-day long intensive marketing competition.

 

GUB VC receives award for "Best Professor in HRM"

The VC of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir has been awarded the status of "Best Professor in Human Resource Management 2018" by, for his outstanding contribution in human development sector. He received the award on February 17, 2018 in a ceremony at the 26th World HRD Congress held in Mumbai, India.

Prior to this fellowship, Prof. Fakir achieved the status of Senior Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (HEA), UK for his contribution in teaching and learning in higher education.
