BUBT holds workshop on Outcome Based Education

The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organised a workshop on Outcome Based Education (OBE) on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at their university campus. Dr. Engr. Hasan Sarwar, Professor, Department of CSE, UIU and member, Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE) discussed OBE and its importance.

Prof. Dr. Mohammed Rubaiyat Chowdhury, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Applied Sciences, BUBT was present as the session chair. Prof. Dr. M. Ameer Ali, Chairman, Department of (CSE); Engr. M. Azharul Haque, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of EEE; Mohammad Masudur Rahman, Director, Career Guidance, BUBT and faculty members were also present during the workshop.

Winrock International signs MoU with Bangladesh Venture Capital Ltd.

Winrock International and Bangladesh Venture Capital Ltd (BVCL) have agreed to improve the identification and scale-up of agricultural technologies in Bangladesh. To achieve this common goal both the organizations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 4, 2018 at the conference room of Daffodil International University (DIU).

Md. Maksudur Rahman, Country Director, Bangladesh, USAID Feed the Future Asia innovative Farmers Projects and Golam Monowar Kamal, MD, Bangladesh Venture Capital Ltd signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of their respective organization. Mohammad Shibli Shahriar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Entrepreneurship, DIU; and Rashedul Islam, Coordinator of Bangladesh Venture Capital Ltd were also present during the ceremony.

According to the agreement, Winrock International will participate in communications to international donors and funding agencies about activities under this MoU.

SEU hosts seminar on "Budget 2018-19: Addressing the Problems of Poverty and Inequality"

A seminar on "Budget 2018-19: Addressing the Problems of Poverty and Inequality" was jointly organized by the Department of Economics and Southeast Business School (SBS) on June 3, 2018 at the Seminar Hall of SEU in Banani.

M. A. Mannan, MP, State Minister for Finance and Planning was present as the chief guest at the seminar. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, VC, SEU chaired the seminar, while Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Professor of BRAC Business School and Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank was present as the special guest. Keynote paper was presented by Prof. Dr. M A Hakim, Director of IQAC, SEU.

M. Kamaluddin Chowdhury, Representative Member of BoT; Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Adviser of BoT; Maj Gen (Retd) Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed, Registrar of SEU and Deans amd Chairmen of different departments, Directors, Faculty members, Officials and students also attended the program.

IUB wins the United Asian Debating Championship 2018

Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) won the United Asian Debating Championship (UADC) 2018, the largest inter-varsity Parliamentary Debate Tournament in Asia. This championship has earned IUB the record of being the first ever team to reach and win the finals alongside making the first ever team to reach quarter and semifinals on its debut.

Zobayer Ahmed, the youngest member in the team of 3 has made his debut in the world of international tournaments with UADC 2018 and has left his mark sharing the championship with Aaqib Farhan Hossain and Nabil Hasan. The team comprised of the first ever Bangladeshi to hold two international championship titles, Aaqib Farhan Hossain who won the title of "best speaker" in his debut at UADC 2018 along with obtaining championship of the World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) 2013 – the largest English debating competition in the world.

IBA DU 2 became the runner-up which made it an all Bangladeshi teams finale.  IBA DU 1 and NSU 1 broke in the semi-finals.

ULAB hosts Freshers for summer 2018 intake

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organised an orientation programme for their Summer 2018 intake on June 2, 2018 at their university campus in Dhanmondi. The orientation consisted of mixed media and video presentations about ULAB's mission, code of conduct, library, career services and other facilities.

In the formal part of the ceremony, an introduction to ULAB was presented by Prof. Imran Rahman, Special Advisor to ULAB's Board of Trustees and Dean, School of Business, ULAB. ULAB's Vice Chancellor, Prof. H.M. Jahirul Haque also delivered a speech to the students. The program was coordinated by ULAB's Student Affairs Office along with the Communications Office with the assistance of ULAB's clubs, Shangskriti Shangsad and Theatre ULAB. Heads of all departments, faculty members and administrative staff were present during the ceremony.
