SEU congratulates Education Minister and Deputy Education Minister
On behalf of the Southeast University (SEU) family, a delegation led by M. Kamaluddin Chowdhury, Representative Member, BOT, SEU Trust congratulated and greeted the newly appointed Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, MP, and Deputy Education Minister Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, MP, on January 13, 2018. The team was comprised of VC Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin; Registrar Maj. Gen. Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd.); BCPR Director Mohammad Imtiaj; and Deputy Secretary of BOT Mohammad Tarik Al Jalil.
AIUB organises ICREST 2019
Department of Computer Engineering (CoE) and Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) from Faculty of Engineering of American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) organised the 1st International Conference on Robotics, Electrical and Signal Processing Techniques (ICREST) on January 10-12, 2019.
The opening address and welcoming remarks were given by Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, General Chair of the Conference and Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. Chief patron of the conference Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, VC of AIUB, inaugurated the conference. The opening ceremony was also graced by Mike Hinchey, Former Director of NASA Software Engineering Lab; Prof. Dr. Henry Reiser, President, College of New Caledonia, Canada; Prof. Dr. A. M. M. Safiullah, VC , Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology; Prof. Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Chair of IEEE Bangladesh Section; Dr. M Shamim Kaiser, Chair of IEEE Computer Society, Bangladesh Chapter; and Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Organising Chair of the Conference & Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB.
The three-day conference featured a number of keynote speakers and other distinguished guests. Ten keynote speeches were presented by researchers from home and abroad Nearly 20 academic sessions with 134 papers were presented, authored by nearly 500 researchers from 13 different countries (Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, Pakistan, Qatar, South Korea, Thailand, UK, USA, and Vietnam) including Bangladesh.
On Friday evening, a cultural programme was presented by the AIUB Performing Arts Club. Prof. Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, attended the programme and banquet as chief guest. The closing ceremony of ICREST 2019 on January 12 was dignified by the presence of Nadia Anwar, Chairman of the BOT and Founder Member of AIUB.
IUB arranges orientation programme for Spring 2019
Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) welcomed the newly enrolled undergraduate students of Spring 2019 semester through an orientation ceremony on January 12, 2019 at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka.
Welcoming the newly enrolled students and the parents, Prof. M. Omar Rahman, VC, IUB, told that IUB is trying to build the students in such a way so that they can contribute to build prosperous Bangladesh who are the main assets to face the challenges and meet future goals.
Prof. Milan Pagon, Pro-VC, IUB heartily thanked the parents and students for choosing IUB towards crafting their lives by coping with new opportunities and having efficient planning. Highlighting the academic rules and regulations of the University, Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Anwarul Islam, Registrar, IUB requested all students to abide by them and assured to extend all essential cooperation to the new students and their parents.
The event was conducted by Lima Choudhury, Deputy Director, Admissions and Financial Aid Office of IUB. Apart from the students, parents, guardians, members of the faculty and management of IUB were present in the orientation programme.
ULAB signs MoU with BAASANA
University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and Business and Applied Sciences Academy of North America (BAASANA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on January 13, 2018 at ULAB Chancellery located at Dhanmondi. Prof. Dr. H M Jahirul Haque, VC, ULAB and M. Ruhul Amin, Chairman of the Board of Directors, BAASANA signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations. When feasible, BAASANA – USA agreed to collaborate with ULAB in collaborative faculty research, collaborative consulting projects, consultancy and logistical support for discipline specific and institutional international accreditations to ULAB if desired. Curriculum updating assistance for all disciplines if desired by ULAB will be provided at an affordable cost. Senior officials of ULAB and BAASANA were present at the signing ceremony.
AUW to host open house lecture sessions
As a part of its student recruitment programme, the Asian University for Women (AUW) located in 20/A, M. M. Ali Road, Chattogram, is going to host an open house programme at the university premises from 10 AM to 4 PM on January 19, 2019. The day-long event will help prospective students and their families to experience all that AUW has to offer. Students will get to meet admissions counsellors, faculty members, career counsellors, current students and AUW graduates to learn more about the university's undergraduate programmes and application process. In addition to guided campus visits, this event will provide a great opportunity to get to know the university by attending a broad range of drop-in sessions on academic issues, financial aid, and career opportunities.
The event is open to anyone interested.
UODA holds fresher reception programme
A reception was given to newly enrolled students of winter session of University of Development Alternative (UODA) in its Dhanmondi campus auditorium on Monday.
Presided over by Dr. Rafiqul Islam Sharif, VC, UODA, the programme was addressed by Prof. Ahmadullah Mia, Pro-VC, while Prof. Mujib Khan, Founder and President, BOT was present as special guest; Acting Treasurer Prof. MA Yousuf; Registrar Dr. Iffat Chowdhury; Deans, chairmen of different departments and high officials of UODA were present at the programme.
