BUBT observes Int'l Mother Language Day

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) observed Language Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day with probhatferi (morning procession), tribute at the BUBT's Shahid Minar, discussion and cultural sessions. The discussion was organised on February 21 at the Hall Room of BUBT permanent campus, Rupnagar, Mirpur-2. Ekushey Padak laureate Prof. Dr. Syed Manzoorul Islam was the chief guest.

The programme was presided over by Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, VC, BUBT. As special guests, AFM Sarwar Kamal, former Chairman, BUBT Trust and Prof. Syed Anwarul Huq, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Humanities spoke at the programme. Earlier on February 20, the Social Welfare Club of BUBT and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society jointly organised a Blood Donation Camp on the occasion. Lieutenant General (Retd.) Dr. A.K.M. Zafrullah Siddiq, MBBS, FCPS inaugurated the camp. VC Prof. Md. Abu Saleh spoke at the camp before he visited the blood donation activities; Assistant Professor of English Kazi Abu Bakar Siddique coordinated the programme while Assistant Proctor Md. Abdullah Al Azad anchored it.

Tahmina Azam, Member of BUBT Trust and Dr. Md. Harun-Or-Rashid, Registrar also addressed the audience. A competition of deyalika (wallpapers) making also was arranged by the BUBT Cultural Club on the occasion. Md. Alamgir Kabir, Lecturer, Dept. of EEE coordinated the competition as the moderator of the club.

 

NSU graduate students avail German scholarships within HEST project

Three students of the graduate program of the Department of Environmental Science and Management (ESM) of North South University (NSU) have been invited to receive training in Germany for their Master's thesis projects with full scholarships awarded by a collaborative project within the Germany-Bangladesh Higher Education Network for Sustainable Textiles (HEST) framework.

The project "German-Bangladesh University Cooperation in Textile and Clothing Sector 2018-19" aims to improve the physical and social environmental aspects of the textile sector of Bangladesh.

On January 14, 2019, ESM department arranged a sendoff party for the awardees Md Rajibul Haque, Sheikh Jahirul Islam, and Md Iftekharul Alam, presided over by Prof. Atiqul Islam, VC, NSU and Prof. G.U. Ahsan, Pro-VC (designate).

The Chair of ESM Department Dr. Mohammad Moshiur Rahman wished all the best for the awardees' future career. The students will be trained under Prof. Schönberger at Institute of Sanitary Engineering, Water Quality and Solid Waste Management of the University of Stuttgart, Germany.

IUB hosts qualifying round of Jessup Moot Court Competition

The 3rd Bangladesh qualifying round of Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2019 was held at the Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) in Bashundhara, Dhaka.

International Law Students Association Bangladesh (ILSA) in association with the Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development Assistance and Training (OPDAT) - U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ), TEER- City Group, Independent University Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Chapter of the Asian Society of International Law (AsianSIL Bangladesh), jointly organised the event.

University of Dhaka (DU) were the champion team and Eastern University (EU) became the runners-up among 31 participating universities. The finalist teams will be going to Washington D.C. for the international round of the 60th Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

Borhan Uddin Khan, Head, Department of Law, IUB and President, AsianSIL Bangladesh chaired the closing session. Justice Muhammad Imman Ali, Judge, Appellate Division and Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Mamoon Rahman, Judges, Supreme Court of Bangladesh; Md. Forhad Hossain, Head of Sales, City Group; Nuran Chowdhury, National Coordinator, Bangladesh Chapter, ILSA; ASM Sayem Ali Pathan, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh and National Administrator of Jessup Bangladesh National Round 2019 were also present.

Eric Opanga, Resident Legal Advisor, U.S. Department of Justice, OPDAT, US Embassy Dhaka, thanked all the organisers and the collaborators for their endeavour. Prof. M. Omar Rahman, VC, IUB, was present as chief guest.

 

Daffodil Alumni UK Reunion 2019 held in London

Daffodil Alumni UK Reunion 2019 was held on February 24, 2019 at Palm Tree in London. Baroness Manzila Pola Uddin, Member of the House of Lords, UK was present as the chief guest. Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil Family was present as the special guest. Dr. Donald Slowan, Chairman, Oxford Cultural Connective; SM Zakaria Haque, Commercial Counsellor of Bangladesh High Commission in UK; and Dr. Azizur Rahman, Bangladeshi-origin British businessman were present as guests of honour. Md. Nuruzzaman, Chief Executive Officer, Daffodil Family delivered the welcome address. Around 150 Daffodil Alumni and their family members participated in the reunion programme.

The event turned into a family gathering and every member was excited to find their teachers, students, mentors, colleagues after a long period of time. Everyone found to share the old memories and to some extent became very emotional. At the beginning of the event, there was a presentation on family photos which really made the event live.

 

MDIC holds Graduation Ceremony 2019

With joyous and jubilant atmosphere, the Graduation Ceremony 2019 of Manarat Dhaka International School and College (MDIC) was held in its auditorium. Shah Abdul Hannan, former Secretary of People's Republic of Bangladesh and Chairman of Manarat Trust, delivered his speech as the chief guest presided over by Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Mehdi Hassan Pramanik psc, Principal of the college. Among others, Hafizul Islam Mian, acting VC of Manarat International University; AB Jafor Ahmed, Secretary of Manarat Trust; Fatima Jemaima Rahman and Mohammad Farooque Vice Principals of the college were present.

Crests and credentials were awarded among the highest number achievers of the college. SM Tahmid Siddiqui achieved the award for the best learner of O Levels. He received the world highest scores in English and the country highest in Bangla. Asif Rahman Niloy, Ishmam Rahmank, and Nafiz Imtiaz from A Levels got the world highest in Mathematics.

Attractive cultural events were presented in the second part of the ceremony. The students of MDIC performed drama, sang songs and recited poetry which provided enormous joy to the audience.


Frobel Play School and Frobel Academy were proud to present their Annual Concert on February 8-9, 2019 at the Shah Alam Bir Uttam Auditorium, Chittagong. CDA Chairman Abdus Salam presided over the event as chief guest. The Chairman and Directors of BSRM Group of Companies, Alihussain Akberali, Zohair Taherali, Huwra Zohair, and Sabeen Aameir were present at the occasion. Children with special needs were also participants in the event and enjoyed their roles in the concert. Frobel Schools are committed to provide inclusive education and cater to the requirements of children with special needs and autism.
