BUBT celebrates birthday of Bangabandhu and National Children's Day 2019

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) celebrated 100th birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children's Day 2019 with a discussion at BUBT Hall Room, Rupnagar, Dhaka on March 18, 2019.

Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Siddique, Chairman, BUBT Trust spoke as the chief guest while Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, VC, BUBT presided over  the session. Prof. Md. Enayet Hossain Miah, Treasurer, BUBT also spoke as the special guest. Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman, Advisor, Student's Affairs, BUBT delivered the welcome speech.

Director of IQAC; Deans of all faculties; Registrar; Controller of Examinations; Chairmen of all departments; Joint Registrar; Proctor; faculty members and students of all departments attended the programme.

IUB holds award giving ceremony of 'Green Genius Season 2'

The Green Planet Club of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB), in association with the School of Environmental Science & Management, organised its flagship event and an award giving ceremony of "Green Genius Season 2" on March 12, 2019 at the IUB Auditorium in Bashundhara, Dhaka.

The idea behind Green Genius was to be able to encompass the young minds of the school, college and university to get them thinking about the environment friendly world.

Shykh Seraj, prominent agricultural personality and winner of Ekushey Padak was present as chief guest. Dr. Md. Abdul Khaleque, Dean, School of Environmental Science & Management, IUB, chaired the ceremony. Tahsin Rahman from IUB became the champion in university category and Fairuj Samia from South Breeze School became champion in School and College category. They each received certificates, crests and BDT 25,000 as recognition for their achievement.

Seraj, in his speech, shared some experiences relevant to environmental issues and asked students to help people through their innovation. He also stated that its time to do more research at the university level and submit those innovations to related institution for create a livable world.

CYC organises Word  Wizard - Season 2

Connecting Youth for Change (CYC) successfully organised the grand finale of Word Wizard - Season 2 on March 1, 2019 at Joydebpur Govt. Primary School in Gazipur. Word Wizard is an English vocabulary skills competition for high school students. It was designed as a team competition through which CYC created an opportunity for students to acquire and showcase their English vocabulary skills.

More than 200 teams registered for Word Wizard this year. The qualifying round was held on February 22, 2019. Acing a written test, a total of 16 teams from two categories qualified for the final round. The format of the final round was based on an adapted version of the spelling bee competition. Two teams won the prestigious championship in senior and junior categories proving their merit and mettle. The deserving winners in junior category were Zuairia Tasnim, Naziatut Tayeba Nova, and Sadia Afrin Era. Championship in senior category was won by Nusrat Jahan Eti, Afsana Akter Erin, and Abanti Nath Tithi.

Word Wizard - Season 2 was supported by media partner The Daily Star, youth engagement partner SHOUT, food partner BD Foods Ltd, and radio partner Dhaka FM 90.4.

ACBSP President & CEO visits Business Administration Department of DIU

Jeffrey Alderman, President and CEO of The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) visited Department of Business Administration, FBE, Daffodil International University (DIU) on March 12, 2019. Prof. Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro-VC, DIU; Prof. Dr. Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Dean, FBE; Gouranga Chandra Debnath, Head, Department of Business Administration along with other senior faculty memberswelcomed himand discussed the accreditation process.

Later, in the discussion session Alderman appreciated and expressed satisfaction towards the current operations of the department in line with the accreditation requirements. Furthermore, he expressed his willingness to serve the department for further development if needed.

AIUB presents BYMUN'19: Bangladesh First

AIUB presents "Bangladesh Youth Model United Nations 2019 (BYMUN '19)" was held on February 22-24, 2019, hosted by American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) as the title sponsor as well as the venue partner for the event.

Over 400 school, college and university students from more than 70 institutions nationwide participated in the conference. Traditionally, MUN conferences enable delegates to roleplay as various members of the United Nations and its respective committees. At the end of a conference, the best-performing delegates in each committee as well as delegations, are recognised with awards.

Of the many agendas discussed at the conference, each committee was assigned their own, based on which they were to come up with resolutions and present their ideas. For the first time ever, the conference had the General Assembly take place, following the typical set up of a UN General Assembly. Their incubation partner, YY Goshti, agreed to assist the feasible social ventures from the General Assembly with seed funding, mentorship, office space, training, and additional resources. BYMUNC collaborated with Panjeree Publications Ltd. and Ifad Multi Products Ltd. as their knowledge partner and snacks partner respectively.

AIUB is proud to be engaging in a dialogue working towards identifying challenges, opportunities, and more importantly, solutions to redirect the trajectory of the country's growth for the years to come. With rigorous sessions on practical applications of global scenarios and its impact on a national level, the participants experienced a holistic personal and professional development programme.
