CIDER International School hosts "Global Perspective Day"

CIDER International School, Chittagong (CIS) hosted "Global Perspective Day" on April 30, 2019, in the school auditorium.

Gyanesh Chandra Tripathi, Principal, CIS; Neeti Tripathi, Vice Principal, CIS; Alexious Serrao, Academic Coordinator, CIS were present during the opening ceremony.  Omar Kaiser, News Editor, Prothom Alo was present during the event as the chief guest.

Global Perspective is a new subject launched by Cambridge that enables students to be analytical through interpretive skills which will help them to deal with different global burning issues in the most relevant and prospective manner. This course explores the prospects of adopting a global perspective to begin to meet the grand challenges of the 21st century.

DIU signs  agreement to  offer new degree "ACD MBA"

Daffodil International University (DIU) signed an agreement with six partner universities of the member states of Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) collaborative universities on ACD MBA at Doha, Qatar on May 1, 2019.  Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, BOT of DIU was present as a representative for the ACD MBA signing ceremony where 16th Ministerial Meeting of ACD was held under the chairmanship of Qatar.

H E Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Quatar, opened the 16th Ministerial Meeting of the Member States of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) and was present during signing the agreement. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran; Mevlut Cavusoglu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey; and Bundit Limschoon, ACD Secretary-General also addressed the first session. Gen. Vijay Kumar Singh, Indian State Minister for External Affairs; Dato' Saifuddin Bin Abdullah, Foreign Minister of Malaysia; Ashud Ahmed, Bangladesh Ambassador to Quatar; and Nahid Sumana, Director General from Bangladesh, and 34 foreign ministers of different countries were also present during the event.

Under this agreement, students can start ACD MBA at DIU and after the completion of some courses they can transfer their credits to any of the partner universities which will accept all the credits completed at DIU. The ACD MBA will focus on cultural and multinational learning experience, and global networking, which will create international employment opportunities for the ACD MBA holders.

Other universities that signed the agreement includes, Asia e University of Malaysia, RIMT University of India, University of Surabaya of Indonesia, Siam University of Thailand, and Our Lady of Fatima University of the Philippines. 

CUB holds academic council meeting 

An academic council meeting was held at Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) on May 4, 2019 at the university auditorium.

Prof. Dr. Atiur Rahman, Emeritus and Virtual Dean, Honorary Advisor and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank; Prof. M. A. Arafat, Chief Advisor, CUB; Shahnul Hasan Khan, Executive Chairman, CUB; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam, VC, CUB; Prof. Dr. Nazrul Islam, Pro-VC, CUB; Sheikh Mozaffar Hossain, Treasurer, CUB; Bahauddin Muhammad Isa, Acting Registrar, CUB; and Prof. William H. Derrenger, Dean, School of Business, CUB, were present during the meeting.

S. M. Arifuzzaman, Head, School of Business, CUB; Dr. MD Shahrukh Adnan Khan, Head, Department of EEE, CUB; Dr. M Mamoon Al Bashir, Academic Director, MBA & EMBA Programs, CUB were also present during the ceremony among others.

IUB holds orientation programme for Summer 2019 

Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) warmly welcomed the newly enrolled undergraduate studentsof Summer 2019 semester through an orientation ceremony on May 4, 2019 at the IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka.

Prof. M. Omar Rahman, VC, IUB; Prof. Milan Pagon, Pro-VC; Md. Anwarul Islam, Registrar; Dr. Mohd. Aminul Karim, Dean, School of Business; Dr. Mohammed Anwer, Dean, School of Engineering and Computer Science; Dr. Abdul Khaleque, Dean, School of Environmental Science and Management; Dr. Zakir Hossain Razu, Head, Department of Media and Communication, on behalf of the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, addressed the students in the orientation program.

The event was conducted by Lima Choudhury, Deputy Director, Admissions and Financial Aid Office of IUB.

NSU environmentalists hold Trash Tag Challenge in Dhaka

 

North South University's Earth Club (NSUEC) and the Department of Environmental Science and Management held their own Trash Tag Challenge at Buddhijibi ShahidMinar of Mazar Road on May 3, 2019.

The team consisted of 35 participants who cleaned up the park and hung banners in the area stating that the area must not be littered again as a form of awareness amongst the park users.

The Trash Tag Challenge is a viral internet trend that is encouraging people all around the world to clean up nearby areas and post before and after photos of it on social media to show the change that one's determination can bring about on the environment.
