Pledge Harbor International School arranges UK trip for students

Thirteen students from Pledge Harbor International School travelled to the United Kingdom this summer. The 9-day trip from June 9-18, 2019 was an opportunity for the students to reap the benefits of attending an IB World School, where they gain international exposure on their journey to becoming global citizens.

This was an engaging and enlightening experience for the students as it took them to some of the biggest names in the field of education: University of Oxford and University of Cambridge. They enjoyed getting tours of the university grounds and learnt about their rich history. Being present on the grounds that are treaded by inspiring intellectuals on a daily basis was a truly motivating experience for the group.

The students visited the quintessential London landmarks: The London Eye, River Thames, Tower of London, and London Bridge. The trip also included visits to the National Space Centre and Old Trafford, home of the Manchester United Football Club.

Trips such as these make the students aware that the world is much larger than the community they live in. "International Mindedness" is a vital component of the IB Programme and Pledge Harbor International School ensures the practice of this element. By going out and exploring new cultures and meeting new people, the students gain an understanding of other perspectives and languages. The school profoundly believes that education is not limited to just classrooms and the best lessons are learnt out in the real world.
