The first ever online Bangla cognitive research test project has been launched recently by a research team of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) in collaboration with Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, and Wellesley College, USA. Dr. Garga Chatterjee of ISI and also visiting faculty at ULAB and Dr. Jeremy Wilmer of Wellesley College, USA are associated with the project.

Worldwide, cognitive tests are used for research purposes with an aim to understand various novel aspects of human behaviour, predict human behaviour and decipher patterns. In recent years, such research projects are increasingly conducted online to tap into the potential of the increasingly huge online presence in nearly every country including Bangladesh.

The ULAB-ISI-Wellesley collaborative research team has developed a set of adaptations of online cognitive tests and have now created them in a Bangla only platform making it convenient for Bangladeshis to participate in online research tests. The research project has 2 important tests - one for measuring individual attention capacity and the other for measuring reasoning for visual patterns. The collection of data is already underway with the participation of more than a hundred students of ULAB. Data about school leaving examinations in Bangladesh is also being collected, which the researchers will use to correlate with the measured cognitive capacities, thus giving an idea about the aspects of human cognition that school leaving test performances draw upon.
