Games we would love to play on VR

Video games are more than just for entertainment purpose. Often, one plays them not for the sake of being entertained, but for the nostalgia that they get while playing those games. So here is a crazy thought. Why not give our classic or beloved games a reboot?

ROAD RASH

This nineties bike racing classic is loved by millions even today. The game's popularity didn't come for its graphics. Rather, what made Road Rash popular was its gameplay; mostly kicking other riders off their bikes or beating them with different inanimate objects while you try to take the lead. Take this simple yet gratifying game into virtual reality and you will be able to exercise your leg muscles while enjoying the game. This VR game will be highly anticipated by those who love wearing helmets and kicking the snot out of others.

MINESWEEPER

People will someday be able to live and establish civilisation on Mars, but they will not be able to understand how Minesweeper really works. Even if there is a guide to playing Minesweeper, I can bet it is more difficult than rocket science. But that won't stop players from playing this if it ever comes out on VR. They will get blown up most of the time due to the hidden mines. VR will only make the game more challenging and thrilling than it already is.

VIRTUA COP 2

Arguably one of our most favourite shooter games as a child. This arcade game has you playing the role of a cop as you hunt down criminals. Playing it on VR will only have you aim and shoot at the bad guys as your movement across the game is taken care of by the game itself. So you don't really have to worry about moving space around your console. Despite the movement being taken care of, you will still have a lot to play in this game as you need to finish all levels defeating the boss at the end of each level. Virtual Cop will forever have its presence on our gaming lives, releasing it for VR will only immortalise it.

POKÉMON

Nintendo has been working on the Pokémon gaming franchise for decades now. New games are realised almost every year with more unique gameplay and storylines. But what they really need to do is to rethink the games from generation 1 through 5 and give them a VR release. Take our childhood Pokémon games such as Yellow, Silver, Emerald, etc. and try to visualise them as if you were actually in the game. Interacting with your Pokémon, confronting other trainers and saving the world from the likes of Team Rocket and other evil characters. Virtual reality will give us the Pokémon world we all so wanted back in our childhood.

GRAND THEFT AUTO

Open world games give you the ecstatic feeling of living a second life and when it comes to such games and excitement, nothing will get your heart and soul more satisfied than Grand Theft Auto. The series hasn't disappointed ever since its inception. Even today, GTA happens to be one of the most played video games across different platforms. Take this open world experience, add a little virtual reality to it and you will no longer feel the requirement to come out of your room. After all, who would want to ditch a life where anything goes and instead live in reality?

NEED FOR SPEED

Our childhood gaming days had limited number of games to choose from. NFS was one of them. Such racing games have evolved over the years. Graphic details, gameplay and even the car brands are all looked into and given priority by these game developers. So if you end up making a VR version of NFS, you're basically building a car simulator. This is something that will be appreciated by everyone, from car enthusiasts to people who just want to experience some driving. NFS has been giving emphasis on safe driving and not to take these stunts on the busy roads. The virtual reality instalment will ensure this very cause as enthusiasts will no longer find the need to take their reckless driving outdoors.

FIFA

This football game is the time pass of many people irrespective of their age. Developing it for VR would mean people can actually feel the tension of the matches. Imagine entering the pitch through the tunnels of Old Trafford or Camp Nou wearing the jersey of your team and the crowd chanting your name. That is you living the dream. You can even ditch the jersey for the suit and tie and command your team from the side-lines as their manager. No need for a field and injuries when you can play indoors. Of course, to run in that big of a field, you better have one hell of a living room, preferably the size of a football pitch.
