Nandita

She came into the fray when she finished 7th on the first season of Bangladeshi Idol. However, her talent and dedication to music ensured that instead of getting lost in the mix like many of the top contestants, she would be recognized as one of the most promising young singers in the country. With a combination of charming looks, exuberant personality and a uniquely melodious voice, she is set to carry the industry on her back somewhere down the line. Star Showbiz presents an honest interview with the gorgeous Nandita, who talks about her story of getting into music, her aspirations and much more!

Tell us about your journey into music. What initially inspired you to become a singer?

I have been learning how to sing ever since I was four years old. My mother loved music and regularly listened to the radio when I was little. She never got to learn how to sing, so it can be said that she wanted to live her dreams through me. My father is also an ardent music lover, and he supported me from the very beginning. Without my parents, it would have never been possible to come this far. I first learned how to sing from Dilip Majumdar, and then had the opportunity to get mentored by the likes of Gouranga Chandra Majumdar, Azad Rahman, Selina Azad, Asit Dey, Sujit Mustafa and Prithwiraj Vaidya.

What projects are you working on at the moment?

I am currently busy with television and live shows. I have given voice to a song in Tauquir Ahmed's film Haldaa, and the song will be called Nona Jol. Pintu da (Pintu Ghosh) was my co-singer. A few days ago, I worked on a song titled Falgune Gungun composed by Moon da (Autumnal Moon), which was released on GP Music. I take projects very selectively, and consider them only when I feel that the tune and composition is to my liking.

If you had do describe yourself in one word, what would that be?

Loyal. I have always been loyal towards my friends, family and craft, so I think this word describes me perfectly.

What do you think is your biggest achievement in music?

My biggest achievement will always be the fact that I could make my parents proud. I am also proud of the fact that the audiences have given me so much love and admiration throughout my brief career, solely based on the fact that they loved my music. Another one would be when I was eliminated from Bangladeshi Idol, Khalamoni (Ferdausi Rahman) burst into tears and said that one day, everyone would look up to me. Coming from an absolute legend like her, that is also a huge achievement for me.

Do you have any message for your fans?

I just want to let you all know that I am always very grateful for all the love and support that you have given me. Another thing is that, in this age of social media, I am very socially introverted girl. So if I cannot reply to some of the messages I receive, please know that I am still very appreciative and overwhelmed by all your good wishes!
