How have you been spending your time indoors?
I have primarily been working full-time from home. I'm spending time with my daughter a lot as well, like drawing and singing. I also help her study. I'm also doing household chores.
Can you say something about the short film that you made at home?
In the communication world, we have this concept of terribly tiny stories. I call my short film a terribly tiny film because its duration is only one minute twenty-five seconds. I haven't really been able to immerse myself in all the creative activities I generally do, so I thought this would be a fun project. My brother-in-law, Iresh Zaker, came up with this idea and shared it with me. My brother, my daughter and I filmed this on a phone. My brother, Maimun Khan, is a musician, and he did the editing and music production. It turned out well, so I shared it on social media and my YouTube channel. People seemed to like it.
Did you learn anything new during this time?
I don't think so. I think executing that
tiny film could be consid ered
a new skill. I am drawing, dancing and singing because I have some free time now, but they aren't newly acquired skills since I had learnt those when I was young. I wasn't able to practise those
before as I was busy all the time. Other than that, there isn't anything new that I've learnt.
What do you miss most right now?
I'm definitely missing my husband. It may sound strange because people generally dislike going to work, but I miss BRAC Centre. I used to spend a large part of the day, say ten hours, at my office, so I'm missing that. Still, I'm not very upset about having to stay at home.
What is the first thing you will do after the lockdown is lifted?
I'm not really looking forward to go out, but the first thing that I want to do is see my husband. Maybe I'll go to Kolkata.
Any message for the readers?
I know everyone is going through a stressful time and panicking, so it's very important to take care of ourselves. We have to take care of our mental health as well. We should do whatever makes us happy at home. We must stay at home since it is now the only way of keeping ourselves and others safe. We should maintain social distancing and hygiene properly and tell others to do the same. I believe we can get through this difficult time together.
