1.  PM comments: militants, economy

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged people to not give financial support or shelter to militants, at a secretary-level meeting today. The two militants have not been caught yet, and Tk 20 lakh was offered to those who help find them. One more cop has been arrested for the militants' escape, that's brought the issues of security and negligence to the fore of the nation. The PM also directed the concerned authorities to cut down on imports of luxury items and focus more on importing essential products, including food and fertilisers.

2.  Waterways transport

Water transport workers today went on an indefinite work abstention to press home their 10-point demand which includes a hike in their daily wages. Owing to the work abstention, no launches left Sadarghat, Barishal and Chandpur launch terminals since this morning. Passengers who were not aware of the strike came to the launch terminal only to find out there was no way to reach their destinations. Many either went back or opted for alternative modes of transport to get to their destination.
