Awami league-backed mayoral candidate Talukder Abdul Khaleque won the Khulna City Corporation election

He got 1,54,825 votes, while his closest rival Md Abdul Awal from Islami Andolan Bangladesh got 60,064 votes.

Returning Officer Md Alauddin made the unofficial announcement at Khulna Shilpakala Auditorium around 8:45pm, reports our local correspondent.

Among the other candidates, Md Shafiqul Islam Madhu from Jatiya Party got 18,007 votes, and SM Sabbir Hossain from Zaker Party received 6,096 votes, according to the returning officer.

The total number of voters in KCC is 5,35,529. A total of 2,56,433 votes were cast, Md Alauddin added. Voter turnout was 47.88 percent.
