Will accept results regardless of outcome if polls held fairly: Faizul

Islami Andolan Bangladesh mayoral candidate Mufti Syed Faizul Karim today said he would accept the election results, regardless of the outcome, if the Barishal City Corporation elections are held fairly.

He made these remarks after leaving the Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Government High School polling station, where he had cast his vote at 8:20am.

When asked about his concerns regarding the reliability of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), he acknowledged that there is an inherent fear as the EVMs function according to their design.

Regarding the voting atmosphere, he stated that it seemed positive at present, but he was unsure about what might unfold throughout the day.

He said that a great deal of enthusiasm is seen among the voters and urged the administration not to undermine their voting rights and urged them to help voters cast their votes.
