Import duty cuts on wheat gluten, sugarcane molasses
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has proposed reducing the import duty on wheat gluten and sugarcane molasses to ensure supply of protein and dietary sugars at a lower price, thereby reducing production costs of the livestock industry.
"Wheat gluten is used in the feed preparation for domestic poultry industry. At present there is a 25 percent import duty on that product," he said in his budget speech.
"It has been proposed to reduce the import duty on that product from 25 percent to 15 percent," he said.
Meanwhile, sugarcane molasses is a major ingredient in the production of cattle feed. "I am proposing to reduce the import duty on this product from 15 percent to 10 percent," he said.
