Asia Cup: Mustafiz may miss, Tamim likely to join
Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman may miss rest of the team’s games of the Asia Cup due to his injuries which he suffered during yesterday’s match with Sri Lanka, according to sources.
Opener Tamim Iqbal is likely to join the squad for the rest of the tournament, added the sources.
The ace pacer is suffering from a side-strain which was revealed after a MRI was conducted today, said sources in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Meanwhile, Tamim, who became father just yesterday, is likely to replace him in the squad for the tournament.
He returned to Dhaka from his paternal leave this afternoon. He joined the team in the practice session at Mirpur.
While the BCB did not provide an official quote immediately, the process for the replacement has reportedly begun.
The team management does not want to take any risk regarding Mustafizur with the ICC World Twenty20 scheduled to begin on March 8, 2016 in India.
