Abahani win following Mash’s four-in-four

Youngster Nazmul Hossain Shanto struck a fantastic 123-ball 133 to help Abahani post 290 on the board against Agrani Bank before Mashrafe bagged four wickets in four deliveries to see Abahani win their seventh game in the Dhaka Premier League at Fatullah today.

Nazmul powered his way to an unbeaten ton with 11 fours and three sixes while Mohammad Mithun contributed with a 38-ball 46 to see Abahani reach 290 for the loss of six wickets.

In reply, Agrani were in a strong position with seven wickets in hand and centurion Shahriar Nafees at the crease with the score on 228 in the 44th over when Mashrafe removed Nafees on 121 to bag his first wicket in the game. He then removed Jahid Javed in the 46th over to shift the game considerably for Abahani. However, he reserved the best for last, not even stopping at a hattrick as he took four wickets in four balls in the final over of the innings.

Mashrafe ended with figures of six for 44 in 9.5 overs as Dhiman Ghosh, Abdur Razzak , Shafiul Islam and Fazle Rabby all felon the trot to the paceman.

Prime Bank vs Prime Doleshwar

In the match at Savar's BKSP, Marshal Ayub's 128-ball 135 went in vain as Prime Bank ran out winners against Prime Doleshwar by one wicket in an exciting match. Chasing 287 for victory, openers Mehedi Maruf and Mehrab Hossain jnr notched up a 147-run opening stand before Mehedi fell for 82. Mehrab went on to strike a ton but it was late heroics from Sajjadul Haque and Shoriful Islam that ensured victory as Prime Bank crossed the finishing line with just one wicket remaining, having required 16 runs in the last over.

Gazi Group vs Mohammedan Sporting

In another close game at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Gazi Group defeated Mohammedan Sporting by 29 runs. It was a low-scoring match at Dhaka, as batting first, Gazi Group were bundled out for just 137 runs in 35.4 overs with young paceman Qazi Anik bagging a four-fer.

However, Gazi's battery of young spinners Mahedi Hasan and Naeem Hasan made their mark, bagging two and three wickets respectively, as Mohammedan were bowled out for 108. Kamrul Islam Rabbi also bagged three wickets for 35 runs.
