Gayle joins Rangpur Riders
Chris Gayle, who has been part of all four occasions of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), joins Rangpur Riders.
The chief executive of Rangpur Riders, Ishtiak Sadek has confirmed Gayle’s signing, media reports claim.
Gayle’s previous stint at the BPL saw him feature for Chittagong Vikings.
Gayle is the highest century maker in the BPL with three centuries under his belt. He also scored a half century.
He has made 15 appearances in the BPL T20 matches and scored 650 at an average of 54.16 and an unbelievable strike rate of 174.95.
Gayle has so far played for four different franchises in the BPL.
Although Rangpur Riders have managed to secure Gayle’s services, the left-hander won’t feature across the entire season due to his busy schedule. The dazzling opener is expected to feature in overseas T20 leagues.
Sadek revealed that Riders may be able to further secure Gayle’s participation if Rangpur can manage to make it through to the Qualifier round.
Rangpur Riders have already secured the services of Australia Tom Moody as their head coach. They also managed to retain Arafat Sunny and Rubel Hossain in their squad.
Among the overseas players, the signings of four overseas cricketers, Samuel Badree, Johnson Charles, Thisara Perera and Ravi Bopara have been confirmed by Rangpur Riders.
The first match of the BPL is scheduled to be played on November 4, 2017.
A Total of 60 matches will be played with the player draft scheduled for September 16.
