‘Doubt won’t help us’
Bangladesh's stand-in skipper Mahmudullah Riyad feels that Tigers need to focus on what they can do well and suggests that there cannot be any room for doubt when Tigers take on India in the Nidahas Trophy match tomorrow.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Thursday's match Mahmudullah suggested that India are still very much a side rich in T20 experience but Tigers will have to focus on their own selves.
"Although some experienced players are not playing for India in this tournament but still with the squad they have, due to experience in T20 format in IPL but it won't pay well to think about things on the outside.
"We will have to focus on ourselves and that is what we are trying to do," the skipper said.
He did not leave out the fact that there are things left to be decided keeping the opponent in mind but reiterated that focus would very much on their own strengths.
"What talked in practice[session] regarding the things we are already capable of doing well and idea is to execute well the things we are good at. So that there is no doubt amongst us.
"If you go into this format with doubt then I don't think it will do you any good," the skipper suggested.
Previously, Mahmudullah had talked about playing fearless cricket and Tigers must have seen the way Sri Lanka batted in the first game against India. Sri Lanka picked up 75 runs in the powerplay while losing two wickets. A positive mindset however made the middle order's task easier as Lankans chased down India's 175.
"To play some good hard cricket. That is what I have been telling to my boys," Mahmudullah said.
