WI announce T20 squad without Roach, Hope being monitored
West Indies will not include Kemar Roach in the lineup for the upcoming T20 series against Bangladesh starting on December 17, the Windies captain told reporters after the third ODI against the Tigers today.
The fast bowler starting facing difficulty early on during the Bangladesh innings. He left the field after the first five overs of the innings, clutching his hamstring and did not come out again. Meanwhile centurion Shai Hope was hit by a Mohammad Saifuddin bouncer late in the West Indies. He did not come out to the field and during the game the Windies twitter account posted that both Hope and Roach will not take further part in the game.
"Kemar Roach is not in the T20 squad, so he gets time to heal. His foot is a little bit sore. Shai Hope is a little bit dizzy from the ball that he got struck in the head. Hopefully overnight into tomorrow he can recover. He will be a vital part of the T20s," the Windies captain informed.
West Indies announced the T20 squad today with all-rounder Obed McRoy left out of the squad due to injuries. Dashing opener Evin Lewis makes a return to the squad after sitting out the ODIs while Kesrick Williams and Sheldon Cottrell were recalled. Allrounder Andre Russell and offspinner Ashley Nurse, meanwhile, have not yet fully recovered from the shoulder and knee injuries that cut short their India tours. Paceman Oshane Thomas has also been included in the lineup.
