Shakib misses the first day of camp
After the players and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) reached a resolution regarding the cricketers' strike that started last Monday and lasted for three days, normalcy in cricket returned when the national cricketers joined the camp today in Mirpur ahead of their tour of India in November.
However, Bangladesh's T20I and Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who played a pivotal role during the players' protest, had missed the first day of the camp that was originally scheduled to begin on October 23.
Left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny, who earned a recall to the T20 squad for the India tour, said that he had no idea why Shakib did not show up on the camp's first day.
"I actually don't know about it [Shakib's absence]. It is totally up to the team management and I think he had definitely informed the management about it," said Sunny to the reporters in Mirpur today.
However, BCB cricket operations chairman Akram Khan informed The Daily Star that he did not get any message from the premier all-rounder and that he does not know why Shakib missed today's camp.
