Soumya to be included in squad for third ODI
Bangladesh's Soumya Sarkar's recent form has paid dividends as is set to be recalled back into the Bangladesh squad for the third ODI against Zimbabwe.
Bangladesh are set to extend their squad to add one more player and Soumya, whose performance in recent domestic matches caught the attention of Bangladesh coach Steve Rhodes, is going to be included in the 16-man squad for the third ODI.
Rhodes was delighted with Soumya's recent form. The left-handed batsman has not only been doing well with the bat but has also contributed with the ball in the ongoing National Cricket League. He picked up his second five-wicket haul in first-class arena recently against Rangpur Division while playing for Khulna. He also followed up his ton from the second round of matches to hit 76 and 71 in the first and second innings respectively in the third round of NCL. Following his domestic performances, he led BCB XI to victory against Zimbabwe in a practice match at BKSP by hitting a ton and such performances led to him being recalled back to the ODI outfit.
The 25-year-old has been in and out of the national team in the recent past due to his inconsistent performances. His last recall was called midway through last month's Asia Cup alongside Imrul Kayes. Soumya is currently playing in a NCL match against Rajshahi at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
