Halsall on vacation
Bangladesh's assistant coach Richard Halsall has been sent on vacation ahead of the Nidahas Trophy tri-nation series in Sri Lanka.
In the absence of a head coach, Halsall was given responsibility for the coaching side of things when Tigers went into the tri-nation series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe at home. However, it appears that he has been sent on a vacation as Tigers are getting ready for the away T20I series which begins on March 6.
BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury however reiterated that Halsall is still Bangladesh's assistant coach and he will merely not be present for the upcoming T20I series.
"Richard Halsall is still our assistant coach. He won't be with us for this series. Halsall is in vacation. He will be with us for upcoming series with West Indies, Afghanistan. Talks are ongoing. If those series take place then he will join us at the camp," the CEO informed.
The CEO further informed that HP team's head coach Simon Helmot will work as a batting coach with the Tigers for the coming series while Champaka Ramanayake will be the bowling coach as Courtney Walsh is fulfilling the role of interim head coach.
Bangladesh will undergo a training camp on March 2 in order to prepare for the T20I tri-series and the Tigers will leave for Colombo on March 4.
