Shakib flies to Thailand to seek specialists’ advice
Bangladesh's ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan flew to Thailand yesterday night to seek advice from orthopedics experts on the injury to his little finger.
Bangladesh Cricket Board is eager for Shakib's participation from the beginning of the tournament which starts on March 6 with Bangladesh's opening fixture to be played on March 8 against India.
"Shakib left for Thailand yesterday night to seek a different opinion. He has appointments with two orthopedic experts in Thailand today. He will return after that and we hope that he will leave with the squad for Sri Lanka," BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury informed today.
With eight days remaining before Bangladesh's opening match, it is still uncertain whether Shakib can feature from the beginning of the tournament. The Tigers' undergo a training camp on March 2 and Shakib is expected to return to the country and join the squad which will depart for Sri Lanka on March 4.
The all-rounder suffered the injury during Tigers' loss to Sri Lanka in the final of the tri-series ODI series last month.
