Tragic incident touched our hearts, says BCB president
After fast bowler Rubel Hossain mourned the death of two students due to a tragic bus accident in Dhaka two days ago, this time it was the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) who expressed deep sadness and wished for strict enforcement of traffic rules.
On Sunday, two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College were killed with at least nine others injured, after two buses started a race near the ramp of Airport road flyover. The BCB president, on behalf of the cricket board, expressed its sympathies to the families.
In a media release, the BCB president said: "This tragic incident has touched the hearts of everyone in this country. On behalf of my Board I extend our profound sympathies to the families who have lost their dearest ones. We also pray for speedy recovery of those who have suffered injuries."
He called for the strict enforcement of rules and called for drivers of public transports and motorized vehicles to drive responsibly.
"Like all conscious citizens, we want our roads and streets to be safe. We wish to see the strictest enforcement of traffic rules and call for responsible driving on part of the drivers of public transports and motorized vehicles."
Passengers of the buses said the vehicles raced against each other on the flyover and one of them got down the ramp first. Uttara-bound 'Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan' rammed into a group of students who were waiting for a bus to arrive.
