The Bangladesh men's team returned to winning ways in the 44th Chess Olympiad, handing a comprehensive 3.5-0.5 defeat to Albania in the fifth round in Chennai yesterday.

The Bangladesh women's team also notched up an easy 4-0 win over Jamaica after losing in the previous round against Indonesia.

Following a 2-2 draw against Brazil in the previous round of open section, GM Enamul Hossain beat IM Llambi Pasko, GM Ziaur Rahman beat IM Franc Ashiku, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag beat Zino Veleshnja and GM Niaz Murshed drew with IM Dritan Mehmeti.

In the women's section, Sharmin Sultana Shirin beat Rachel Miller, Noshin Anjum beat Adani Clark, Jannatul Ferdous beat Nickaylah Curwin and Protiva Talukder beat Gabriella Watson.

Bangladesh men's team have now seven points from five matches while the women's team have six points from as many matches.
