International Master Abu Sufian Shakil became 22nd in the Commonwealth Chess Championship after losing the last round held at Waskaduwa in Sri Lanka yesterday.

Shakil, who had been in third position till the seventh round, lost to Indian GM Abhijit Kunte in the final round and finished with six points from nine matches.

Unbeaten Indian GM Abhijit Gupta claimed the title with eight points, while his compatriot GM Sunilduth Lyna Narayanan finished second with 7.5 points.
