Both GM Ziaur Rahman and GM Abdullah Al Rakib were held to draws in the eighth and penultimate round of the Commonwealth Chess Championship in New Delhi yesterday.

Zia drew against IM Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh of India while GM Rakib drew with IM Sardana Rishi of India. Both Bangladeshi GMs have 5.5 points each from eight matches.

GM Niaz drew against Nayak Rajesh, GM Enamul Hossain Razib beat WIM Parnali S Dharia while WIM Shamima Akter Liza beat Thilakrathne of Sri Lanka. The trio have five points each.

In the day's other matches, FM Taibur drew against Isha Sharma of India, WIM Rani Hamid beat Arun Wahi of India, WFM Shirin beat Akshitha Goud Pally.
