Shakib takes 300th in SRH win
Bangladesh's ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan became the fifth bowler and the first Bangladeshi to reach the 300-wicket mark in T20 cricket during Sunrisers Hyderabad's 31-run win over Mumbai Indians in their IPL match in Mumbai last night. However, the picture was not too bright for Shakib's Bangladesh teammate Mustafizur Rahman, who despite bowling creditably saw his team crash to their fifth defeat in six matches.
Shakib achieved the feat in his 260th match and is tied in fourth place on the all-time list with Pakistan's Shahi Afridi, who has exactly 300 wickets from 274 matches. Dwayne Bravo, Lasith Malinga and Sunil Narine are the others in the 300 club.
Mustafizur gave away just 18 runs in 3.4 overs and took the last wicket of Yusuf Pathan as Hyderabad were bundled out for 118 in 18.4 overs. But the home side fared worse as they were shot out for a paltry 87 in 18.5 overs.
Shakib's historic 300th scalp was that of Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma, who edged a looping delivery to slip in the sixth over. He ended with figures of one for 16 from three overs as Hyderabad offered no resistance in the face of a three-wicket haul from Siddarth Kaul and two each from Rashid Khan and Basil Thampi.
