Mushfiqur ruled out of last ODI and T20Is
Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has been ruled out of the next one-day international and the three T20Is against New Zealand.
This has been confirmed after an MRI scan at Nelson Hospital today, where the report reveled that the Bangladesh's Test captain had a Grade 1 tear in his left hamstring.
It was a moderate injury and needs at least two weeks to heal. And after further assessment and rehab it will be clear whether he will be available to lead the Tigers in the two-Test with the first starting in Wellington on January 12. He picked up the injury while taking a quick single in the first ODI at Christchurch on Monday.
“Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim will start an immediate rehab programme in a bid to recover from the left hamstring injury suffered during the first ODI against New Zealand in Christchurch on December 26. Mushfiqur underwent an MRI in Nelson today and the scan report confirmed a Grade 1 tear,” said a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) release today.
“We have received the radiologist’s report and it shows a minor tear of the left hamstring. This is a moderate damage in nature but means that it could take him around two weeks starting from the day of the injury to recover. However, we may ease him into training at some stage over the next few days,” read the media release quoting Bangladesh team physio Dean Conway.
“At the moment our priority is to get him fit for the Test series. We will continue to assess and monitor him to see how he is responding to the rehab.”
