'Absolutely no': India coach calls for all matches against Pakistan to be postponed

India's national team coach Gautam Gambhir has called for all matches against Pakistan to be postponed until the escalating conflict between the nations is resolved.
Indian military fired several missiles at Pakistan-controlled land on Wednesday morning in what the former said was retaliation to an alleged terrorist attack in Kashmir last month. The latter labelled Wednesday's attacks an act of war.
The neighbouring Asian countries have been in political conflict for decades but there are fears it is now escalating quickly..
The respective cricket organisations have not played any bilateral series against one another since 2013 but do meet at ICC tournaments such as World Cups and Champions Trophies.
During the Champions Trophy earlier this year, India refused to travel into Pakistan despite the latter hosting the event. Instead the ICC allowed some games to be played in the UAE, where the Indian team stayed, citing security concerns in Pakistan.
Following Wednesday's events, Gambhir agreed the two nations should not meet on the field, even at a neutral venue.
"My personal answer to this is absolutely no... there should not be anything between India and Pakistan," Gambhir said. "Ultimately, this is government's decision whether we play them or not.
"I have said this before also, no cricket match or Bollywood or any other interaction is more important than the life of Indian soldiers and Indian citizens.
"Matches will keep happening, movies will be made, singers will continue to perform, but nothing comes close to losing a loved one in your family.
"This is not up to me, it's not in my jurisdiction, this is for BCCI and more importantly, the government to decide whether we should play them or not.
"Whatever decision they make, we should be absolutely fine with it and not politicise it."
India and Pakistan are currently scheduled to contest the men's Asia Cup in September.
Neither the BCCI (India) or PCB (Pakistan) have commented since Wednesday's missile attack.
