Mushy, Liton top Test batters since 2020
Bangladesh may not have an impressive Test records in the last 15 Test they played, having won only three matches where two of them came against the lowly ranked Zimbabwe. However, two Bangladesh batters have been exceptional during this period and find themselves on top in two separate lists.
In terms of batting average, among batters who have played a minimum of 20 innings since 2020, Mushfiqur Rahim is ahead of the likes of Joe Root, Babar Azam and Rohit Sharma. With a couple of back-to-back centuries against Sri Lanka in the ongoing two-match Test series, Mushfiqur has amassed 1002 runs in 21 innings and driven his average to 58.94 to sit at the top of list, where Liton Das accompanies him as one of the seven batters in the world with a 50-plus average during this period.
Sri Lanka's Angelo Mathews, who is displaying a stellar batting form in Bangladesh, is close behind Mushfiqur, with 985 runs in 21 innings as well. The right-hander is well adding to his tally in the ongoing Dhaka Test, inching towards another Test ton, his fourth since 2020.
Among the wicket-keeper batters, Liton is the only one with a 50-plus average since 2020, having scored 1105 runs in 22 innings, including three tons. Only India's Rishabh Pant has scored more runs than the stylish batter of the Tigers, but Pant took 33 innings to pile up 1166. Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan has the second-highest average of 44.85 in 25 innings.
