Over 7000 students to feature as Prime Bank School Cricket gets underway

The 10th edition of the Prime Bank National School Cricket Tournament 2024–25 got underway on Monday. This year, a total of 351 schools from 64 districts will fight for the school championship. The tournament started with the district round, which will be followed by the divisional round and the national round.

More than 7,000 students will feature in 657 matches during this tournament. This year, the tournament is also considered part of the youth and sports ministry's initiative titled Youth Festival – 2025.

A press conference was arranged at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Monday, where the tournament details were disclosed.

Prime Bank PLC's deputy managing director Mohammad Nazim A. Chowdhury, BCB director and game development committee chairman Fahim Sinha, and BCB's game development manager AEM Kawser were present during the occasion.

"School cricket is a big emotional place for us. Prime Bank has been with this tournament for 10 years. Through this tournament, 10 to 12 cricketers reached the highest level. Prime Bank is happy and proud to contribute to grassroots cricket," Nazim said during the programme.

Apart from patronising the tournament, Prime Bank is also giving scholarships to 15 top cricketers after the end of each tournament. The selection is made by the age-level selectors.
