While the national team players are enjoying a well-deserved break after the home series against Afghanistan, experienced Mahmudullah Riyad was seen at the BCB Academy ground training on his own on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old, who lost his place in the Bangladesh ODI side after the home series against England in March this year, could not even make it into the preliminary squad prior to the recently-concluded home series against Afghanistan.

Questions were raised over Mahmudullah's fitness since he lost his place in the national team, and the experienced cricketer, who returned to the country recently after completing the Hajj pilgrimage, was seen working on his fitness.

Following running sessions, Mahmudullah went to the nets where the right-hander was seen playing against the spinners.

Although the team management is yet to rule out Mahmudullah's chances of a comeback to the team, the experienced player will have to work really hard to make a return.

With scores of 8, 32, 31, 20, and 77 in his last five ODIs, according to many, Mahmudullah has still got a lot to offer to Bangladesh considering his vast experience that could come in handy in the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup later this year.
