Soumya hits unbeaten 153, Abahani-Mohmmedan title race going down to the wire

Abahani maintained their two-point advantage at the top of the table as the title race builds up ahead of the final stages of the Dhaka Premier League Super League stage. Meanwhile national team opener Soumya Sarkar hit a blistering 153 not out for Legends of Rupganj against Agrani Bank at BKSP four to help his side to a big win.
Soumya reached his ninth List A ton in 92 deliveries and then pummeled the bowling in the death overs to remain unbeaten on 153 off 112 deliveries, his knock laced with 17 fours and six sixes. Earlier, Rupganj openers Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan both struck 43 before Soumya's ton and Afif Hossain's 45-ball 49 helped them to 333 for three. In reply, Agrani were bowled out for 230 in 43.1 overs with Marshall Ayub hitting a team-high 74 as Rupganj won by 103 runs.
Abahani and Mohammedan both won their respective games yesterday against Gazi Group Cricketers and Gulshan Cricket Club respectively. Two Super Six matches are left for each side and on the final day, Abahani and Mohammedan will face off again, making it a virtual final. Head-to-head is prioritised in breaking deadlock when teams are equal on points. If Mohammedan and Abahani both win their next match and Mohammedan then beat Abahani on final day, they will win the league on virtue of head-to-head equation.
Abahani won a tight match by 10 runs against Gazi today. Batting first, Shahriar Komol's 96 at the top and contributions from Parvez Hossain Emon (45) and SM Meherob Hossain (45) helped the league leaders to 249 all out at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Young leggie Wasi Siddiquee bagged four for 38 for Gazi.
Gazi struggled from the off but Anamul Haque Bijoy's 113-ball 108 -- his second consecutive ton this DPL – kept Gazi in the game. Bijoy was caught-behind off Ripon Mondol in the 47th over and needing 33 with one wicket remaining, Gazi pushed on with Mrittunjou Chowdhury at the crease. Needing 15 off the last over, Mosaddek Hossain completed a fantastic catch at long off to remove Mrittunjoy and win the game for Abahani.
"We have two matches left and we want to win those. When you are winning, you are confident. That's what's happening at the moment," Mosaddek said after the game.
At BKSP 3, Mohammedan won against Gulshan Cricket Club by five wickets as Mahmudullah hit a 103-ball 71 while skipper Towhid Hridoy struck 62 to help the title contenders.
