Syed Rasel set to take up a coaching job in the USA
Former Bangladesh seamer Syed Rasel is set to take up a coaching job at a cricket academy in the United States. The 37-year-old will work as the head coach of the Cricket Academy of Detroit in Michigan for three months and is expected to join later this month.
"I have played for four seasons in the United States, three of which were at this club. They offered me to work with their academy for this season and I thought it was a good opportunity for me to explore. I am currently working as a permanent bowling coach at the Masco Shakib academy and since I had the opportunity to work outside for this season, I accepted it," Rasel confirmed the news to The Daily Star today.
However, Rasel is willing to work for Bangladesh cricket as well.
"Look, I will be working only for this season and I am not thinking of getting settled in the US anytime soon. Since I will work there as the head coach, it will be challenging for me and I am looking forward to improving my skills as a coach. I also want to work for Bangladesh cricket and as I am the bowling coach at the Masco academy, I am willing to continue there in the future as well," he added.
Rasel, who played 52 ODIs, six Tests, and eight T20Is, last featured for Bangladesh in 2010. He bid adieu to professional cricket in 2018.
He then took up coaching as a profession and has been working at the Masco Shakib cricket academy since 2021. Earlier, Aftab Ahmed, another former Bangladesh cricketer, also received an offer to coach in the United States.
