Warner retires hurt after bouncer blow
Australia vice captain David Warner walks straight off the pitch at Darwin’s Marrara Oval after being hit on the helmet by a Josh Hazzlewood bouncer during the intra-squad practice match.
The left-hander was hit on the side of the face according to cricket.com.au.
The batsman fell on his knees after being hit but stood up almost instantaneously.
He appeared shaken but was able to walk without needing any assistance. He threw his bat to the ground and walked straight off the ground. Steve Smith came from the slip cordon to check on him and Team Doctor Richard saw ran into the field.
Ice was applied to the area where Warner was hit.
Australia had assembled two highly competitive XIs in the Darwin camp – Steve Smith XI and David Warner XI.
