Chinese Taipei crush Kyrgyzstan

Chinese Taipei thrashed Kyrgyzstan 7-1 in the opening match of Group C Qualifiers of AFC U-16 Women's Championship at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.

The Chinese Taipei team coached by Chang Li-Chuan and managed by Huang Chen Wei called all the shots from the onset and scored five goals in the first half. In the second half, Chinese Taipei consolidated their position by adding two more before the final whistle. Kyrgyzstan managed a consolation goal for their efforts under the scorching sun at Dhaka.

Chinese Taipei want to qualifying for the eight-team final as they have come here with six-months of preparation alongside playing six practice matches in Japan.

“Our target is to qualify for the finals by winning this group and to achieve our target, we have taken a long preparation and played some good practice matches against teams in Japan,” said Chinese Taipei Assistant coach Kao Tsai Hu.

The Bangladesh under-16 women's team will hope to fulfil their dream in the AFC U-16 Women's Championship Qualifiers, providing that they defeat group favourites Iran at 6:00 pm today.

In the day’s second match, Singapore came from behind to play out a 2-2 draw with United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the same venue.

Zahra Hussain put UAE ahead in the 32nd minute before Dorcas Chu equalised two minutes into the five-minutes of added time at the end of the first half. 

However, UAE regained the lead two minutes later as Hassa Mohamed scored in the fourth minute of added time.

After resumption, Putri Nur Syaliza levelled the margin for Singapore in the 47th minute and both teams had to be content with a stalemate in their opening match.
