Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly wants to return to Manchester United but his former club remain unconvinced.

Manchester United are unconvinced by reports in the media which suggested that Real Madrid’s star forward wants to return to his former club.

Ronaldo’s form in this La Liga season has been plucky to say the least and the forward had been angling for a new deal and was reportedly unhappy ever since Barca star Lionel Messi and PSG forward Neymar signed lucrative deals with their respective clubs.

Amidst speculations surrounding Real Madrid’s interest in Neymar, Ronaldo has found himself in a position where he is thinking of a return to his former club Manchester United.

United however continue to doubt reports that Cristiano Ronaldo really wants to return and believe that the Portuguese is merely angling for better deal with Real Madrid.

ESPNFC report suggested that a source close to the player had confirmed to them that news reports regarding Ronaldo’s Old Trafford return are ‘accurate’.

Ronaldo’s current contract runs till 2021 but the forward suggested back in December of last year that ‘he would like a new deal but it does not depend on him’.

He is in the midst of his worst La Liga Campaign, scoring just four goals, with Real Madrid 19 points adrift of Barca.

Even Madrid based paper Marca questioned why Zinedine Zidane insisted on starting Ronaldo when he is making ‘too many incredible mistakes’ after Ronaldo failed to find the net in Madrid’s last three league outings.

"I'm sure Zidane also considers benching Cristiano but how do you tell him [Ronaldo]. It's not that easy. You have to analyse what the real problems are. There is a lack of goal. If your leading scorer has scored four then that is a problem. That is fundamental,” former Real Madrid player Bernd Schuster commented while talking to Onda Cero.

After Real Madrid president Florentino Perez’s open flirtations with PSG's star man Neymar when he said that the player has more chance of breaking Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s stranglehold on the Ballon d’or if he joined Madrid, seems that Ronaldo mind has diverted further away from the Bernabeu.
