Real Madrid Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo hit back at critics following his brace against Borussia Dortmund in the group H encounter.

The Portuguese forward said that the criticism of his performances are getting worse and feels that he needs to prove himself in every match or face scrutiny.

Cristiano said: "It seems that I have to keep showing exactly who I am in every match," the forward said in an interview with Atresmedia.

"I am surprised by what the public thinks of me, my numbers speak for themselves, I am an exemplary professional and I always have a clear mind.

"The criticism is getting worse," the Portuguese added. His two goals against Dortmund allowed Real Madrid to taste their first victory at Signal Iduna Park, home of Borussia Dortmund.

The Portuguese forward has a staggering record against German clubs – scoring 25 goals from past 20 games against German oppositions.

The Real Madrid star found the net after drawing blanks in two La Liga matches and seems he is already fed up with the treatment he received from certain media.

"People talk about me every day all around the world, I live for football and my family, not for the media.

"Sometimes these stories start in Portugal, in Spain or even Germany, because when you're big business, people talk about you."
