Goalkeeper Zentner misses the spot
Mainz goalkeeper Robin Zentner was involved in a hilarious incident during the Bundesliga match against Borussia Monchengladbach that could have easily cost his team a goal.
The mistake would easily make it to any football blooper reel in the world and it went viral on social media.
Zentner received a back pass while back tracking further towards his goal and then kicked at thin air with the ball nowhere to be seen. Apparently the goalkeeper thought that the penalty spot( marked white) was the ball.
Fortunately the 25-year old keeper realized his mistake soon enough and proceeded to cover the ball away from the onrushing striker.
However, he lost the ball while trying to turn and was caught out but fortunately a defender cleared the ball out of play just in time.
"It's behind youuuu!"

"The ball was passed back to me with a bit of backspin,” Zentner said after the game.
"In the corner of my eye, I could see something white and I thought it was the ball -- but it was the penalty spot and the ball was somewhere else.
Zentner was aware that the penalty spot was not the ball when his feet kicked at thin air and that jolted him back into reality.
"I went to play a pass into the centre but I didn't make contact with the ball, and then I realised it wasn't even there."
